A child's ability to reflect on the phonological structure of his or her language (i.e. Phonological Awareness) in predictive of reading acquisition in hearing children.

Phonological awareness, a child's ability to reflect on the phonological structure of his or her language, has proved useful in studies of reading acquisition in hearing children. In this seminar we will explore how cochlear implants have had an impact on phonological awareness in deaf children and the relationship with early reading.
