This session has been moved to 2010. A new announcement will be made.
10 November 2009
Richard Reed, Musician and Nucleus CI Recipient and Denise Cafarelli Dees, Senior Clinical Studies Specialist,
Cochlear Europe
Music is a gift in this noisy world; and it plays an important role in the lives of many cochlear implant recipients. In this session, Richard Reed, a professional musician who lost his hearing and, after implantation of a cochlear implant, can perform and record his music again, will share some of his experience with music. Topics include “music tips” for CI recipients, some brief examples of notes and pitches, and the value of including music therapy in cochlear implant rehabilitation.
This session will be introduced by Denise Cafarelli Dees, who will provide a technological and physiological overview of music versus speech perception, analyze the current clinical research findings; and dispel some of the myths regarding music and cochlear implants.
This course has been accredited with 1 CPD point by the British Academy of Audiology.
